Charles Holt
January 29, 1948 ~ April 12, 2022 (age 74)Obituary
Charles Holt passed away peacefully with his daughter by his side on April 12th of 2022 at the Hospice Home in Alamance County. His pain is gone and he is now home, as he would say.
Charles left behind his daughter Amy (Shannon) Murrell, grandson Asher Ridge Murrell, sister-in-law Kayren (Glen), lifelong friend Herbie Holmes, and nieces Toni and Terri. He is preceded in death by his wife Rachel, both his parents, Lynne Holt and Dorothy Hyder and brother J. Gary Holt.
Charles lived a long life that he enjoyed. Charles was drafted for the Vietnam war where, in spite of being blind in his left eye, he acquired the accommodation of sharp shooter within his unit. He worked many years at the Graham wastewater treatment plant and after retirement he went on to drive a student transport van for Elon University.
Charles spent a good majority of his life outside. Photography was a favorite hobby of his, as was painting nature, carving horses with cowboys and indians, and collecting arrowheads and knives. He absolutely loved fishing, anything "Old West", the show Gunsmoke, and dreamed of living in Alaska in the middle of nowhere. He was an "old soul" and will be dearly missed.
A memorial will be held at a later date with his closest family and friends.
Cremation arrangements entrusted to Piedmont Cremation & Funeral Service of Graham, NC.
