George "Micky" Hicks III

1938 - 2021

George “Micky” Washington Hicks III died on May 13, 2021. A longtime resident of Inkster, Michigan, Micky moved to Cordova, Tennessee and later to Snow Camp, North Carolina where he lived until his passing. Micky was born on November 13, 1938 to George and Leanna Hicks. He was the second of four children from this union. His father preceded him in death.

Micky graduated from Inkster High School in 1957. In 1959 Micky married Norma Jean who preceded him in death. Two children were born from this union; a daughter, Andrea Lené and a son, Eric “Ricky” Gerard who preceded him in death.

In 1964 Micky married Merle Elaine Wiggins. Three children were born from this union;  Kevin Gene, Bryant Keith, and Dennis Michael. Micky and Elaine were married for 35 years until her death in 2000.

Micky retired from Ford Motor Company after 30 years. For many years he volunteered as a coach for the Inkster Raiders and was an avid sports fan.

Anyone that met Micky knew he was a force to be reckoned with. He loved to entertain friends and family with lively and colorful conversation. He will be remembered for his sharp tongue, catchphrases, his love of music, and how much he enjoyed sitting in the sun with a cool drink. Micky took many trips to the Caribbean with his wife Elaine and one of his favorite destinations to visit was Jamaica.

Micky is survived by his brother Chester; his sister Sherry and her husband, Nate “Skip” Byrd; brother, Duane and his wife Judy; daughter Andrea Mathews and her husband, Theatrice; son Kevin and his wife, Michelle; son Bryant and his wife, Lillie; and son Dennis.

He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and uncle who was extremely proud of his family.

A celebration of Micky's life will be held in Wayne, Michigan at Wayne Tree Manor on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.

My condolences and prayers to the Hicks family and my good friend Patricia Watkins. To lose a good friend or a family member leaves a empty place in your heart that only the Holy Spirit can help you to fill. The bible says,: "To be absent in the body is to be present with the Lord!" Be confident of where Mickey is and keep his memory in your heart until you see his presence again! May God encourage your hearts!
