Raymond Harold Klingel, 87, of Morehead City, NC, passed away at Brookdale Burlington Memory Care on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, surrounded by family. Arrangements entrusted to Piedmont Cremation & Funeral Service of Graham, NC and Munden Funeral Home & Crematory, of Morehead City, NC. Ray was born in Marion, Ohio, Sept. 1, 1933 to the late Francis Leroy and Helen Weber Klingel. He was the husband of 63 years to the late Ruth Ward Klingel.
Ray received his Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from Ohio State University. He retired after working 37 years with Pfizer – Animal Health Division. He was a member of The First United Methodist Church, Morehead City. He was also on the board of Homeowner’s Association for Camp Morehead by the Sea. He loved living at the beach where he could enjoy taking his family and friends fishing. He was known around the fishing community as the Captain of Reel Heel II. He also loved hunting, playing golf, and traveling throughout his life.
Ray is survived by his 4 children, daughter, Melisa Kirkland and husband, Mark of Mebane, NC, sons Kris Klingel and wife, Allison of Mammers, NC, Allan Klingel and wife, Sue of Mebane, NC and Kevin Klingel and wife, Jennifer of Chapel Hill, NC, 9 grandchildren Laura Mobley, Douglas Kirkland, Jeremy Crewe, Ashlee Crewe, Jordan Klingel, Sara Klingel, Nicole Trepanier, Hunter Klingel and Zachary Klingel, and 13 great grandchildren Lilly, Tyler, Taylor, Rylee, Kennedy, Millie, Malachi, Liv, Mila, Isaac, Marlee, Cypress and Luna, One brother, Bob Klingel and wife, Judy and several nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, parents Leroy and Helen Klingel, brother, Don Klingel and wife, Pat, niece Jill Szul, her son Connor Szul, and 2 great grandchildren, Zaiden Klingel and Jacoby Armstrong.
Ray’s family will be having a 3:00 p.m. Graveside Service at Gethsemane Memorial Park, Morehead City, NC., followed by a Celebration of Life at Sea Water Marina, Atlantic Beach, NC., on May 22, 2021.
