Robert Daniel Strickland

Robert Daniel “Danny” Strickland 77, of Graham, passed away peacefully the morning of Friday January 14th at his home with his wife and family by his side. A native of Alamance County, he was born February 11, 1944, to the late Thomas Edison and Cora Long Strickland.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine Stout Strickland, of the home, Brothers Ronnie Strickland, Johnny Strickland, Jimmy Strickland and wife Sandra, sister Marie Ireland and husband Butch, sisters-in-law Barbara Strickland, Betty Strickland, Carol Strickland. Greg Taylor who was like a son, a very special great-great nephew Gavin Davis and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Tommy Strickland, Ralph Strickland and Frank Strickland.

Danny was a truck driver for many years and later retired from the NC Department of Transportation where he was a large equipment operator. Danny loved animals of all kinds and being outdoors. He raised many animals found on the road or in the woods that needed extra love and care. He was very meticulous and liked things to look nice and neat. He enjoyed working on things and was always working in his yard. He loved the snow and he loved kids. He was very close with his nieces and nephews especially those that lived close by.

A special thank you to AuthoraCare Collective Hospice for their care of Danny in his last days and providing comfort to the family during home visits.

Memorial service will be held February 5, 2022, at 2:30 pm at Full Gospel Tabernacle, 109 Webster Rd, Graham, NC.

Visitation will follow the service.
