William Randall Davie “Pops” of Butner, NC died on December 23, 2021, at the age of 76. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
He was born on September 29, 1945 in Durham, the son of William Carver Davie and Helen Fletcher Davie. He and Brenda, married for 58 years, had three children, Lori Davie (deceased), Billy Davie (deceased), and Chris Davie. Surviving is his wife Brenda; son Chris (Jenni Hinesley); Grandchildren, Timmy Davie (Chelsey) Zane Davie (Gabby), Tyler Davie, Austin Davie, Paislee Davie, Dylan and Cody Hughes; great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Easton and Dalton; numerous nieces, and nephews. Also surviving Billy is his loving Mother-in-law, Eunice Cook and his brother, James Davie (Julie) of Arizona.
Cars were his passion. He was a stock car racer for years in the Carolinas and Virginia. He passed his love to his sons after he stopped racing, becoming their manager. He loved restoring old vehicles, which became his lifetime business. He believed in hard work, and above all, being a Christian and offering kindness, compassion and help for those he knew and those he didn’t know.
A memorial service and celebration of his life is scheduled for 3:00pm, Saturday, January 1, at Grove Park Chapel, 605 Sherron Road, Durham, NC. (Masks are to be worn inside the Chapel)
